Skeleton Falls

Skeleton Falls

It took a few tries, but I eventually found Skeleton Falls (aka Minnehaha Falls). This small, beautiful waterfall is situated on the Skeleton River at the bottom of a steep gorge. I read that the reason it was called Skeleton Falls was because that's all the mosquitoes leave behind. So, I was a little bit nervous to check it out. Thankfully, when we visited late in the fall, the bugs were almost non-existent. The climb down however, that was still there! Keep reading.

Hoggs Falls

Hoggs Falls

Hoggs Falls has long been a fixture on my trips up the Bruce Peninsula. I first learned about the falls by trying to find spots to break up my drive to Tobermory. It's located about half way between Toronto and Tobermory, or about 45 minutes southeast of Owen Sound, which makes it a great place to recharge. While it's not the largest waterfall, its easy access and wild atmosphere keep me coming back every year. Keep reading.

January 2013's Photography

January’s Photography

This year my goal is to add more photos to my posts to try and show off why I love these places so much. I won't be making a post every time a photo is added (though they do get posted to Facebook as well) so I'll be doing a roundup once a month to keep you in the loop. I'm aiming for one photograph a week, but hopefully as my consistency improves, so will my postings! Keep reading.

Presqu'ile Provincial Park Sign

Presqu’ile Provincial Park

I love when one adventure leads me to another. A few friends had setup a camping trip to Sandbanks Provincial Park and on the way there we saws signs for a different park, Presqu'ile Provincial Park. Having never been in the area I knew nothing of Presqu'ile, so I made a mental note to look it up when we were home. When I started doing a bit of research I found out that Presqu'ile Provincial Park is a birder's paradise in the spring. A park I hadn't been to before, that specializes in birds, some of which aren't typically in the area? This I had to see! Keep reading.

Little Cove Provincial Park Sign

Little Cove Provincial Park

Maybe it's just a tourist thing, or maybe a bear thing, but the Little Tub Bakery has become a fixture on our yearly trip to Tobermory. They create the most amazing treats that always makes our stay so much more delicious! All that time I spent browsing muffins, cookies and pies, I never knew there was something else just as amazing right across the street. In a search for new parks to visit, I came across Little Cove Provincial Park and given it's small size it seemed like a quick way to try and add to my count. After checking it out, I think I have another place I have to visit every year! Keep reading.
