The Ring Kiln Side Trail - Natural Ontario
Molly having fun

Time flies when you’re having fun!

I cannot believe NaturalOntario.ca has been quiet for so long! That doesn’t mean that things haven’t been happening, in fact it’s quite the opposite. I’ve been so busy lately and had so many commitments demanding my attention that I haven’t been able to focus on sharing my thoughts and stories. But, as the seasons change, so do my responsibilities. It’s time to get back out there and get back on here!

Part of the reason the site has been quiet lately is that I’ve been working on changing up its look. The initial design was never built to last and a few months ago I started looking to make improvements. The site needed to be stripped right down and rebuilt from scratch as a lot of clutter had collected from tinkering with different ideas. The new design has a better layout, is more organized, has more features, and is mobile friendly. It really is starting to become the perfect combination of two of my biggest interests! Some of the features are still in the works, but should be online before the camping season opens up. Once they’re all live I’ll be sure to post a summary of everything that’s new or improved! If you do notice something a little wonky though, please send me a quick message.

I’ve also been focusing on my health and fitness as I set some big targets this year. According to my hiking log, I hiked just over 160km last year. This year I’m looking to push it to 500km! It seems like a large jump, but the reason for the increase is that I’m aiming to do three Organized End-to-End Hikes on the Bruce Trail with the Niagara Club, the Iroquoia Club and the Toronto Club. I’m excited to get out there and meet so many other hikers and complete the entire bottom third of the Bruce Trail!

It’s been a long, cold winter and I’m not sad to see it go! Soon I’ll be driving along an Ontario county road with the windows down, sun shining, Molly’s ears flapping in the breeze and some quintessential Canadian rock blasting on the stereo. I can’t wait!
